Construction
National Gas undertakes a wide range of construction projects to ensure our pipeline network and assets continue to deliver the capabilities required across the country.
Our construction projects vary in scale, scope and duration. They range from upgrading existing pipes or installing new pipelines, to upgrading compressors, installing new assets and equipment and replacing control systems.
We work with key supply chain partners to carry out our extensive capital delivery programme, focused on expanding, upgrading and future-proofing our national energy network.
In all our construction projects, we have three core priorities:
- On time and on budget – completing works to a high standard in line with our capital delivery plan.
- Delivering for consumers and customers – our assets support the delivery of energy across the UK, so it’s vital to provide a quality product that meets the needs of consumers and customers.
- Future-proofing – ensuring the network is prepared for future energy scenarios, including the continued use of natural gas while ensuring key assets are hydrogen-ready.
Our current construction projects:
Western Gas Network: Essential upgrades and new gas transmission infrastructure to increase capacity in the western part of our national network.
Hatton Compressor Station upgrade: Installing a new compressor to replace two existing compressors at our compressor station in Hatton, Lincolnshire.
Medium Combustion Plant Directive: Investing in a new highly efficient, low-emission compressor unit.
